A Building Painting Technician is a skilled professional responsible for preparing and painting various building surfaces such as masonry, wood, and metal. The role involves surface preparation, application of paints and finishes, creating decorative textures, and ensuring adherence to safety and environmental standards.
This NVQ Level 4 qualification, developed by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) of Sri Lanka, equips individuals with both technical and soft skills required in the painting trade. Trainees learn to assess job requirements, estimate material quantities and costs, select appropriate paints and tools, and execute high-quality finishes both internally and externally. The program also covers special effects, team collaboration, communication, and occupational health and safety practices.
Graduates are competent to work independently or as part of a team, and they can pursue careers as building painters, supervisors, or trainers in the construction and maintenance industries. This qualification ensures a balance of theoretical knowledge and practical skills aligned with industry needs.
